IFEA World Festival And Event City Award : Annual Report
With June comes Vivid Sydney – our festival of light, music and ideas. Established in just two editions and already embraced by Sydneysiders as “Sydney’s major festival in winter”, research has shown that over 70 per cent of NSW residents are supportive of Vivid Sydney being a recurring event on our annual event calendar. Through a multi-faceted program of light, music and ideas, Vivid Sydney showcases the city’s substantial credentials in the creative industries, as well as entertaining Sydneysiders and visitors with a different view of the city. In 2010 Vivid Sydney attracted over 300,000 unique attendees, compared with around 200,000 in 2009. But the future is even brighter. Vivid Sydney will specifically target collaborations in the creative industries to increase the offering of projects to the public, whilst providing a platform for international business events. The vision is for June in Sydney to become the must be place for tens of thousands of international, interstate and local creative industry professionals, and for Vivid Sydney to be the must attend event on the global creative’s calendar. We expect Vivid Sydney to be generating more than $25 million per annum for NSW within the next four years. Creating a new festival in winter to highlight Sydney’s creativity to the world.
