IFEA World Festival And Event City Award : Annual Report
Thank you to everyone who is playing a part in this success and for the continued support in our efforts to nurture, attract and develop events for Sydney and NSW. John Conde AO Geoff Parmenter Chairman CEO EVENTS NSW CORPORATE REPORT | 3 Events NSW with the support and backing of the NSW Government and event partners has built a world class events calendar over the last two years. Since 2008, over 30 new events have been introduced to Sydney and NSW. The 2011 NSW Events Calendar features more than 80 events exclusive to Sydney and NSW spanning sport, entertainment, culture and lifestyle. An aggressive strategy around international art/culture exhibitions and musical theatre has begun to pay dividends and the 2011 NSW Events Calendar, including business events, is expected to deliver in excess of $630 million in new money to the State. Sydney has a well deserved international reputation for excellence in staging diverse and successful major festivals and events, rivalled by few cities in the world. The NSW Events Calendar builds upon that success and positions Sydney and NSW as one of the world’s leading destinations for events. In November 2010 a new dedicated national and international events marketing campaign ”IT’S ON’’ was launched. It is anticipated the campaign will drive tourism with an additional 18,000 visitors to NSW generating more than $15 million in economic benefit for the State. As we enter 2011, the NSW Events Calendar has begun to come of age bringing significant benefits to Sydney as Australia’s global city and the world’s best festival and events city. WELCOME
